Wyoming Yard YMCA Burning on Christmas Eve, 1946

 

Until 1946, the YMCA operated a hotel at the PM's Wyoming Yard. On Christmas Eve that year, a fire believed to have been caused by a carelessly discarded cigarette burned the building to the ground. This photo was shot by the Grand Rapids Herald's photographer on the scene, who also happens to be the webmaster's father.
