C&O (ex-PM) 2-10-2 #2979 at Ottawa Yard, Late 1940s

 

Originally purchased by the PM in 1918 as its SF-class #1105, C&O B4 class 2-10-2 #2979 is shown at Ottawa Yard in Erie, Michigan.

By the late 1940s, the B4s were a common sight on transfer runs. Those based at Ottawa Yard were used mainly to deliver cars to other railroads in the Toledo area. #2979 was retired in 1952 and scrapped.
