Most of the PM's Chicago-bound freight trains tied up at the Belt Railway of Chicago's Rockwell Yard, which the PM leased. Motive power was serviced under the same agreement at the BRC's larger, nearby Clearing Yard.
PM Berkshire #1231 is shown at Clearing Yard on an unknown date with a bunkerful of coal, a good deal of which is being blown out its stack. This locomotive was sidelined in 1952, written off the roster in 1958, and scrapped in 1961.
