PM MK-6 2-8-2 #1095 at Grand Rapids, Michigan in June, 1929

 

Only five locomotives on the Pere Marquette had Vanderbilt tenders. These were the five 2-8-2s purchased from the Erie in 1929. Over the course of the following years, most of these class MK-6 Mikados had their tenders replaced with tenders of greater capacity, though photos taken throughout the 1930s show that one or two occasionally was reunited with its original tender. This photo was taken in June, 1929, shortly after PM #1095 (former Erie #3011) arrived on the property.
