C&O (ex-M&NE) 44-ton switcher #1 at Norfolk, Virginia, September, 1966.
The Manistee & North Eastern purchased its first diesel, GE 44-ton switcher #1, in 1946. It used it in Northern Michigan until it leased the locomotive to the C&O in 1951. The C&O used it to switch its car float terminal in Norfolk, Virginia until 1974.
