PM Depot at Sparta, Michigan, During the 1920s

This wood frame structure was Sparta's original depot, built by the Chicago & West Michigan before the turn of the century. It is shown here as it appeared in the early 1920s.

Sadly, this depot was not preserved. The ex-GTW/Toledo Saginaw & Muskegon depot at the north end of Union Street in Sparta was preserved, however, and is used by the West Michigan Railroad Historical Society as a museum and meeting space.
