Manistee & North Eastern combine car #9, at Manistee, Michigan in 1947.
Number 9 was originally a drovers caboose, with a cupola located above its baggage door. It served as the M&NE's sole passenger car during the 1940s.
This car actually still exists, though in drastically modified form. Upon its retirement it was removed from its trucks, its sides were sheathed over, and it was placed on the approach to the swing bridge at Manistee to serve as the bridge tender's shack.
