Crane DK-8 and Boom Car, 1954

 

PM crane DK-8 with its boom car and tender at Wyoming Yard in April, 1954.

DK-8 was the largest of the PM's cranes, with a 250-ton capacity. It was also the last crane built for the PM, delivered by Industrial Brownhoist in 1945.

This steam-powered crane served the PM, the C&O, then Chessie System, until it was replaced in 1984.
