PM Caboose #A398, Location Unknown, in the 1940s

 

PM Caboose #A398 at an unknown location some time after October, 1943. According to the stencil on this caboose, it was one of the oldest in service on the Pere Marquette at the time, having been built in 1880. This caboose is of a similar design to #A615 shown elsewhere in the photo gallery, but it has a longer carbody, which is just one of several variations among the PM's "three-window" wood cabooses.
